Hey @Demigodrick. I saw a recent thread promoting this new AI tool to fight against CSAM content and also saw your comment mentioning that you’ve already been using the tool to good effect. I’m a little concerned, however, as many commenters in the thread had been pointing out that the tool was not intended for such purposes and should not be used for it.
I am not an expert but was wondering if you could give us your opinion on this. Are the concerns valid or are we g2g?
I don’t agree with the negative takes in that thread, however I’ll admit I’m no expert. What matters is that the tool works to some degree (with some innocent memes caught up in the process) and is better than the default setting of nothing.
While it may not be intended for this exact use case, it can do the job better than any tool currently available to me (I’d love to use cloudflares tool but I’d need be a US resident and jump through very stringent regulations, and as Db0 points out it doesn’t catch generated/ai CSAM which is illegal in the servers jurisdictions) so I’d rather do something than nothing, which this is currently the only tool to do so.
Is it perfect? No. Would I switch to something more suitable if it was within my capability to do so? In a heartbeat. But this is currently the best tool we have and the only way I can possibly manage now over 120gb/700,000 image files.
Hope that answers the question, and thanks for asking, its a really good question without a really good answer but I’ve tried my best haha!

Hey, apologies for the late reply.

Sure does, and I agree with your take. Thanks a bunch!
