While Sea of Thieves will mark the first time ever a Rare developed game will launch on a PlayStation console Rare themselves aren’t handling the PS5 port of the game.

It’s actually being handled by independent developers Third Kind Games.

They have worked on titles such as Forza Horizon 4, Hearthstone and the upcoming Fable game by Playground Games.

Hopefully Sea of Thieves will transfer well to PS5 and will likely also mark the first appearance of Halo’s Master Chief on PlayStation as there are Halo and many other Xbox IP themed cosmetics available in the game.

Let’s just hope that they don’t make the same mistake Obsidian has with the platinum trophy for Pentiment and forget to give it a name with the trophy using the placeholder [PlatinumTrophy] title at the moment.

because its the POV of how the company runs.

Sony likes developing hardware, so they often develop hardware in mind to get more off users, its why there is PSVR2, portal, and a slew of accessories. Microsoft doesnt really care if you are playing on a series or not, they only care if you are buying the game or buying into gamepass, because the strongest thing Microsoft has over sony and nintendo is that they own the CDN to deliever both the digital store and cloud service. Both Nintendo and Sony overtime take a loss on both because they dont have the infrastructure for both, hence why both close their digital stores. much earlier than Microsoft does.
