What were you listening to in February?
Post your scribbles! :-)
The Day Is My Enemy - The prodigy
Sigma - Secret Garden
Au fond du rêve doré - Air
Reasons - Earth, Wind & Fire
Great recommendations! I’ve also listed to a lot of Earth, Wind and Fire this month. You might also like Let It Flow by Grover Washington, Jr.
My February:
I don’t actually recall listening to any I Hate Models, but I guess I must have. And I have no idea who JKS are/is?
Is that Tidal ?
Yep 👍

I’m going to see Bad Religion for the first time next month.
Liam Bailey’s new record
Stay Inside’s new record
Mannequin Pussy’s new record
J Mascis’s new record
How’s J’s new one
I like it! Very J Mascis, so you know what you’re getting into if you’ve heard him before. I think I prefer the latest Dinosaur Jr. record to this, but it’s still enjoyable.
Yeah def know J mascis and Dino jr. They fit right into my tastes lol:
Lot of good stuff on that list! Snail Mail’s one I don’t hear to many other people talking about, but I really like her stuff.
Yeah, I got to see her for free years ago when she was like 16 or something, touring off of her first EP—which is her best work to date, in my opinion. Raw, real, the writing is excellent, the melodies are so good. As she’s gotten signed to bigger labels and has some major pull these days, she’s moved away from that raw, sort of punk-y indie sound and into—admittedly, still some good stuff, her singles off the newer album are really good, the rest of the album not so much—more produced stuff with like a drum machine that doesn’t fit her aesthetic in my opinion.
I have thoughts on the topic, obviously lol
I dunno how but I got tapped into this really obscure vein in my Spotify, so I always find these bands with like 3,000 listens. I love more unproduced sound, and I fall in love hard and then am usually disappointed when a band I loved gets signed to a bigger label and gets their sound bastardized. Def happened with hop along. What even is that band anymore? But their first two albums? “Is Something Wrong?” and “Get Disowned” are fucking incredible. You like hop along?
Oh—if you haven’t listened to her, Shilpa Ray is high on my recommendations list. Watch her audiotree live session. It’s fucking excellent. I love her harmonium centric stuff, but if you don’t, skip to the last song, “EMT, Police, and the Fire Department.” I got to hear them play it live a few months back and it fucking rooockkkeeedd.
Six by Six - The Arms of a Word, which was released in mid-February.

I’ve been really enjoying Frontier Ruckus’s new album On The Northline.

Doom metal compilations
Same as before, but with some notable additions in the form of the Turing Complete Soundtrack and a new addition in the form of God was never on you side - Motorhead.
My typical playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6eb1pOA5zDd9TTDODeXf8r?si=tlOXyR68SlKH91bbWkWHAg&pi=e-27iRtRLSTRCM
Turing Complete soundtrack (the tunes pick up quite slowly and it’s very niche, but I really like it): https://open.spotify.com/album/1NV5KxX785RrwA5RWIz0j8?si=1kntC_rZQhulK085A8bpLA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A1NV5KxX785RrwA5RWIz0j8
I also still have my usual Watch Dogs Soundtrack Playlist (using the Soundtrack from the OG Game, that’s on YouTube by Shivaxi. Especially recommend “Jackson’s Safety/Hold on Kiddo” (Including the Remix) and “Collateral”) Link to YT playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlXIGPUmyrDS61R9VV3MrXF8eEkEA9MhR
Also something pretty surprising for me is I’ve started using Spotify more than my locally downloaded music.

Oncle Jazz - Men I Trust
I started learning bass a few months ago, and I’ve been learning some of the songs from this album. Lots of melodic bass here and the band has a unique sound.
Water Made Us - Jamila Woods
This is an incredible album. The lyrics are a reflection on learning to love again after losing yourself in a relationship.
It appears my dark atmo/ambient overnight listening is dominating my charts
