Gonna be a bit AFK again this month. Moving back to Newfoundland and this shit is expensive and time consuming. Will be posting updates and stuff to Mastodon and over on /c/Stamets <3

Lore: Come Back Soong! That is what the colonists called you, isn’t it? A very sloppy rhyme…

Lore tries unsuccessfully to make the two words rhyme.

Lore: Back Soong. Back Soong. No, doesn’t work. Let’s see…

That specific version of Lore/Data was an organic android that was invented in season 1 of Picard. A totally synthetic mind in totally synthetic body that was organically created. He can full on age and die now and he was plugged into Daystrom for years. My guess is they created him at a certain age and then he just got older while plugged in.

HEAVY SPOILERS BELOW FOR ALL DATA STUFF

TNG Data died in Nemesis. In Season 1 of Picard its said they were able to rebuild his positronic net and that he’s been active inside of a simulation for ages. He’s bored fucking senseless and is the founding basis of a new species of organic androids. He asks Picard to kill him by just turning off the simulation and shutting him down. Picard does so.

In Season 3 of Picard they find one of those organic androids but its Data. He was built seperate from the simulation version. An attempt was made to join Lore and Data into one body which failed on its own. Data eventually fixes the problem himself and ends up as a fully organic android. He’s a real boy now. He was feeling emotions and having gut instincts. Was aging and had no problem with it. Made jokes. Used contractions. Full culmination of his story. I loved it.

I’m willing to go with his organic parts can age .
It’s not like there were any other examples to really know that he wouldn’t age.

Stay well @[email protected] … I’m happy you’re taking time for yourself.

All the best to you … St. Patrick is nearby this month so I’m sure he’ll bring you luck as he does to those silly islands in the Atlantic.

We look forward and eagerly await your return.

Thinking about it, maybe they could have done a Doctor Who thing and wrote reasons for him to need to transplant his brain into a new body and got new actors to play the role. Could have been interesting to have Data pop up in far future stories.

Or just get actors who look similar enough to Spiner. They’ve done it with any number of other characters.

Yeah, but the body swapping would give them a bigger pool of possible talents. They could also play with swapping gender and race and what that would mean for an android.

Also, imagine a five thousand or five million year old Data “thinking” himself to the point he has Q level power. “Adult” humans stop changing or maturing at adulthood. Or rather children change more easily then adult. Data’s struggle was starting in a relatively stable mental state and learning to change over time. What if the ability to change never stops? Never settles in?

The actor swap wouldn’t just be a convince for callback, but a real foundation to discuss scifi/social concepts.

Best of luck on the move, buddy!
(You’re going a little too far for excuses to not play Rain World, imo, but I respect the effort)

Yeah, but he turned out to be right according to PIC season 3. Of course in PIC season 1, Data wanted to die…

To be fair, the Data in PIC S1 was kept alive in a simulation where he had no real outside stimulation or life. I’d totally prefer to be dead there too
