depends. some companies use azure because they dont trust amazon to spin a new service and compete against them.
I see your point but Amazon is not exactly better. AWS feels like a sidegrade from that at best.

What is Microsoft Azure used for?
Cloud computing. Can be used for anything, really. From simple data analyzes, to development and AI bullshit.
Its for people who are scared of the word Linux from my experience.
more like scared to host their own infrastructure, which to be fair, can make sense sometimes.
no love here for azure OR aws though, dont get me wrong.
They do offer both Linux and Windows VMs.
