They are designed for cancelling ambient sound by playing frequencies to cancel out the noise, but can’t predict sudden noises like children crying very well. Earplugs or earbuds do a better job at drowning those out by plugging your ears from outside noises

proper earbuds will block out most everything. get ones that actually fit into your canal and play something you’d rather hear. when I put mine in, I literally can’t hear anything but my music.

Same here. Mine were also about $350 and if I have the full quiet mode on, I can’t hear anything aside from my music. Well worth the money.

I wear both when angle grinding (at the same time). It cuts out the higher frequencies fairly well. Don’t fly much though.
