I am currently in a playtest for The Division Resurgence and tried the Conflict PvP mode one or two times for the daily challenges. And it sucks. It just enforces my opinion that PvP modes don’t belong in a game like The Division. It always comes down to equipment over skill.

IMO the pvp is not the problem the pvp with fun builds that make the pvp different is what is fun it should not be taken seriously in the sense of competitive but instead just build-wise. I love the pvp and the pve.

Idk, I feel PvP that depends on builds will always be not fun for people who either don’t have the time or knowledge to put together a “competitive” build. It’s not fun if you have zero chance not because you play bad but because your equipment is bad.

Yes that’s valid but the very same could be said about hard end game content in a looter // MMO if you don’t have the knowledge to make a good build to do dmg, heal, or tank, then you die and maybe can’t even do it.

Yeah that’s why I don’t play these games. I prefer PvP games like Rainbow Six Siege. One of the reasons why I stopped playing Tarkov (apart from the high stress and too much micromanagement) was that I hate its rpg elements and economy. People say the best time to play Tarkov is after a wipe because thats when it is the most fair game for everyone. Which is true, but that is a sign of bad design imo. I hate always losing all the progress I “worked” for.

Well that’s because the division is not a competitive shooter like siege. Any rpg game will have “balance” issues and there is no way around it. And if you hate losing progress then any extraction style game won’t work for you either. But also for tarkov the early and end game for me were the best I hate the drag that is mid game.

Resurgence is a great game to be honest with some glaring problems however

      1. Monetization is super fucked up and greedy.
      2. The whole game is cluttered with progression systems that could easily be put together in one place.
      3. PvP just doesnt belong in a The Division game, no matter how hard Ubi tries to make it work.

Heartland currently has MASSIVE ammo shortages, the monetization wasn’t in there yet, but the framework is there and it looks like it’s going to be very heavy. They brought mobile game style timers into it, so if you die you have to wait ~20 hours to play that character again. And I could absolutely see them saying “swipe here to reset the timer.” And you can’t create your own character, but have to choose from a preselected list (admittedly, this could have only been true for the playtest)

Yeah, that’s the logical next step. Resurgence has like almost a dozen ways to spend real money, and parts of those are for upgrading materials.

Stuff like ammo or play time is the next thing they will ask money for.
