    A few assorted thoughts:

    • I really have to stop watching this show while eating dinner. I should know better by now.
    • While it was pretty obvious what was going to go down as soon as Homelander stepped into that lab, they did a great job of building the tension until the culmination of that ending scene.
    • The scene where Ashley runs into A Train in Homelander’s apartment seemed a bit forced. They’re obviously setting it up so one uses it against the other, but Ashley seemed terrified of Homelander last episode. I don’t think she’d be dumb enough to risk his wrath for such petty revenge. Plus, they seem to have built up that Homelander has an uncanny sense of smell. He can probably figure out whose shit it is just by smelling it.
    • The security in their private apartments seems ridiculously lax, especially being that Homelander is apparently keeping the world’s supply of V in his.
    • I’m really interested to see where Butcher’s story is going, especially with what exactly happened after he blacked out.
    • I suspect if any of this happened in the real world, the non-supes in The Boys would have been taken out looooong ago by Vought. But, I get it - we need to suspend our disbelief on that one for the sake of having a story.
    • I guess we know what that needle thing was in the scene where Sage and The Deep were making out. That definitely defied my expectations, but was well played for her storyline.

Overall a really great episode. We’re at the halfway point in the season and things are starting to pick up.

Also, the empty containers for the V might suggest that Homelander takes V as an attempt to keep himself young, or maybe keep his superpowers?

Good catch! My eyes kinda suck (I could use some V) so I didn’t even notice it. Now that you mention it, the first set he looked at were indeed empty. This is why I need episode discussions like this.

I’m getting big foreshadowing vibes that one of The Boys is going to die this season, and I think it would be too obvious to be Butcher (I think he’ll probably end up killing Homelander along with himself in the next and final season) …but I could be completely wrong!

Either way I like it when The Boys have their backs against the wall, with all their previous misdeeds biting them on their arses and no obvious solution in sight (although it is truly depressing seeing the parallels with the way Voight and the supes manipulate and twist everything in the media, and our present situation/s)

Yeah, maybe. I also don’t think that they would kill Butcher this season, but we’ll have to see.

This ep is def on my top of the series.

I like that they still nail having Homelander go from pathetic in one episode, to absolutely terrifying in another. Also, what was the ending about with Hughie’s dad? He clearly got a Compound V shot, but who gave it to him? Also, if his dad doesn’t take well to being suped up, it’d be brutal if Hughie had to devise a plan to kill his own dad.

I think it was his mom, though I’m not sure how she spotted the V in Hughie’s pocket. And yeah, I’m very curious to see what happens to his dad, how well he reacts to Compound V.

She works for Vaught. That’s how she got the V. I don’t think she even knows Hughie had it. They just both had the same idea.

Ive seen talk of billy having a mutated tapeworm, or like in diabolical, the brain tumour got powered up instead of billy.

Honestly it would be cool if billy ended up with supe killing powers. It would be awesome if he landed the killing blow to homelander.

it’s probably a mix between his use of compound v and the brain tumour, considering his hallucination of becca controls it, a clear sign that something is wrong with his brain

it has been said in the past that using Compound V as an adult can lead to strange things happening as well (being a “freak” or “exploding”) so yeah butcher probably has supe killing powers that aren’t inherently powers

Firecracker literally said “oh yea i am a pedo sorry lmao btw starlight did abortion” and the media saw Starlight as the bad one.

Jesus. Sorry about all the deleted replies. It looked like my reply was being posted as a top-level comment. Here’s what I was actually saying:

Sadly this seems completely realistic these days. Not with most mainstream media, of course, but the particular base Firecracker plays to eats that up.

    Hooooly f-

What an episode, I don’t even know where to start…
Lots of really intense plot lines.

    • What the actual f- was that thing with Butcher and Ezekiel?? Freacking worm thing crawled out of Mr. Charcuter’s eye and popped the dude like a water balloon.
    • That grenade launcher right into Kimiko jfc. Nasty business.
    • The whole Homelander plot line was so good. The tension was incredible. Let’s see how this little visit home affects him and his behavior in the future.
    • More shite on Starlight dug up, I’m curious to see how they will get out of that hole.
    • Hughie’s plot line was also nice to see. Did his mom figure out he brought V with him and injected it while he went for coffee, or did she have V with her as well??

I’m very curious to see ep 5 now!

My wife and I had a good laugh that they brought over the “Is it me?” Scene from the last one.

Like, it has no bearing on the show so far, just a fun callback.

I was half expecting the cake to be poisoned that Homelander brought to the lab.

I just love how everyone involved with raising Homelander keeps reminding him he could have left at any time and no one on earth could have stopped him. Hes got to absolutely hate being told that.

Poison would’ve been way too subtle for Homelander. But I was expecting him decorating the cake with some caretaker-guts.
