(Reminder, this thread can and will contain spoilers for possibly any show. Spoiler tags are not required in here, but if the show just happened try and keep spoiler talk it to its respective discussion thread for the first day).
I’m watching a pirated version of AEW Collision right now. And I’m not sure where the source is from, but it doesn’t start with the production broadcast.
It starts with Brian Danialson walking up the ramp, and Justin Roberts says to the live crowd to give everyone a few minutes, and they’ll start collision soon.
Then Tony Khan comes out and thanks everybody for coming out, blah blah blah.
But the weird thing is, you can hear Tony Schivone thanking someone. Repeatedly thanking them. At one point he says “No no, thank YOU for your hospitality. We really appriciate it.”
And not in a sarcastic way. I don’t know what it’s in reference to, or who he’s talking to, but it sounds sincere.
Then he asks “Ok, and do we have collision notes? Oh, ok, well I don’t have them out here, can we get a few copies out here?”
It’s just strange to hear all this. It’s like someone just captured the feed off their production truck.
Edit: Tony has asked for a pen.
Edit 2: “Yeah, we’re kinda working without a net out here. We’ll see how it goes.”
And then the feed goes black, 30 seconds later the production feed starts.
Usually I grab the TNT feed myself (which seems to run fine) but on a few occasions when I’ve grabbed the Fite copy I’ve seen similar things to what you’re describing, including a week or two ago. Whoever’s in the truck hits the wrong button and sets the wrong feed, or starts the broadcast at the wrong time and ya get a peek inside the production.
WWE did something similar a month or two ago. Was one of the long backstage shots involving Adam Pierce walking/running towards/into the Gorilla position in a hurry (I think on one of the initial ‘The Wyatt 6 are debuting today/next week’ shows). Shot cut as he entered the curtain iirc but another feed showed him running in and then 2-3 others said good job to him and shook his hand and such for doing a good job with the promo and such.
What I like about this feed, is “We’re going to commercial! Stay with us in picture-in-picture!”
2 seconds pass…
And then they continue the broadcast production with commentary. They essentially just lied about going to commercial.
Then about 2 minutes later, they just burst out with “WELCOME BACK TO COLLISION!!!”
And I’m like “Oh, guess that’s where the TNT feed joins back”.
Sounds like you got the FITE feed. It has much better commentary purely because during PIP they rip in to each other.
Source was awesome. I lost it before the episode started.
I think I started noticing Harley Cameron biting her thumb in Wales. I’m watching AEW all in zero hour and that’s all I can notice now.
She does seem like a nibbler 👀
Big ol’ night tonight, SD, Rampage, and TNA and NJPW ppv’s. Good eatin’!
Am on the way back home after All In, my thoughts as follows:
- First and foremost I had a really good time. Pretty much everyone was super friendly and chill, a bunch of people had dressed up, and there were very few dickheads. In the boxpark earlier in the afternoon the DJ had an entrance music playlist, which was pretty much all WWE themes, but everyone was really positive and having a good time. Actual wrestling fans are not tribal dickheads.
- The only two bits of genuine pride I have in the UK is our ability to form a queue anywhere, and how loud our crowds are. I wasn’t able to get a picture (because I don’t like taking pictures in public with other people’s faces visible) but all the queues leading in to the entrance ways were snakes with multiple turns, with no barriers. It was a thing of beauty.
- The faces got cheered, the heels got booed, and pretty much everyone got a big pop, and some of them you could actually feel the vibrations in your chest. Any ironic chants - like a few CM Punk ones - got drowned out very quickly.
- A couple of guys near us tried to start an En-ger-land chant during Ospreay vs MJF, and they got booed out immediately. The complete lack of nationalistic chants (except the cheeky booing of the USA during Martha’s speech) is such a welcome departure from insipid USA! USA! nonsense.
- I’m still coming down from the dopamine high of Hayter’s return 💪 and I’m so happy for Nigel.
- While The Learning Tree has been really fun, this programme has done nothing for Hook. Jericho really needs to take a 6 month break and come back in a reduced capacity. I’m sure there is a lot of value we don’t see behind the curtain, but he just distracts from everyone else.
- We will always love Big Willy - be that Bill, Ospreay, Hobbs, Starkz, Gunn, Mack, or any others I’ve forgotten
- Having the TBS belt at the top end of the card, and the Women’s so much lower, is bad from a pure kayefabe perspective. A few people mentioned in the live thread about it being a piss break match, but I cannot stress how easy it is to go for a piss in Wembley, I managed to get a pint and go to the loo between every second match, and only really missed the entrances, and the lines for the ladies toilets were even shorter. In short, there is not a need for piss break matches, and I can only assume it was there because of Mercedes’ contract. Which is something TK needs to handle much better, because the crowd did not care at all.
still confused what they thought with the match order but the Hayter and Nigel appearances made up for it (retroactively lol).
