I’m always amazed that people play console and PC games on mobile. How do you move around and manage all of the inputs?

Touch screen. Some mimics console game controler. It’s a widely accepted thing now.

Not saying that I like it myself, but lot of people do.

Yeah I didn’t understand how anyone can play with so much of the screen taken up by buttons.

          It’s because of display size.

Back in the ancient times people used to divide mobile devices into phones, phablets and tablets. Nowadays, most phones are about the size of a phablet, so you totally have the screen real estate for buttons.

you can use any Bluetooth controller with phones these days. including standard xbox ones.

i love it for emulating old Nintendo games

How do you hold the phone in position with both hands using the controller? I suppose you could use a phone stand at a table, but that really just seems counter to the purpose of gaming on a phone; the ability to do it anywhere.

You can get clips that you can attach the phone and the controller together. There are also mobile specific controllers if that’s more your flavor. Mobile was surprisingly decent to my standards for a period of time where I had no other platform, especially with emulators.

sometimes i put in on my knees, but I’m almost never in a situation where i want to game, but don’t have a table.

like, sure, i could spend $1000+ dollars on a mobile solution to compliment my desktop. or i can take my existing hardware and have a pretty good time with it while traveling or waiting for someone or something. it feels like people are trying to come up with silly reasons for this to not work. why would you think i would try to hold the phone in my hands too?

how does needing to put the phone down defeat the purpose on not bringing an entire extra $1000+ dollar gaming machine with me? i mean sure, i could play 2 generations old games on a laptop for a lot less than that, but i haven’t spent a single penny on my mobile setup. it’s not about being the ideal setup, it was about realizing i could use my existing tools to do interesting things like play my favorite childhood Gameboy games whenever and wherever.

you don’t even need a special case for it. i just use a pop socket to stand it up or hang it off something. again, something I already had.

Not really. It’s a godsend for long bus/train/plane/whatever rides to be able to have dozens of old quality AAA games in your pocket. A controller very easily fits in a backpack, and there’s plenty that’ll fit in a pocket.

i mean… why? i just toss the controller i already owned in my bag when traveling and have thousands of old games. phone sits up on the table with its case. to me this is a much not sensible and reasonable thing than a handheld console. i don’t need the latest aaa games every time I’m not at my pc. i haven’t even spent any money on this yet. i already owned all of this for other purposes.
