They weren’t exactly shy about what places were for in the middle ages. This is where the brothels used to be.

Also, Shitterton is literally called that because it was downstream from where all the sewage was flowing.

    Hahaha, such silly names!

Who would even want to live in a town called Glasgow?

The best part about Shitterton is that the name comes from “sewer town.” Not another language, no alternate meaning, it is just as it sounds in modern English.

The sign for Shitterton had to be carved out of a big chunk of local stone, because the normal metal ones kept getting nicked. Obviously.

It was very popular in the mid-2000s but I don’t think I’ve heard anyone use it since then. I’d say somewhere in the middle.

Texas checking in… We don’t have as good of names like that but we have cities like Paris, Athens, and Odessa, TX. I think there are maybe 20 to 25 international city names that would make a fascinating road trip and probably be over 1K miles/1600 Km.

So not only do you guys not have a sense of humor, you also aren’t even creative enough to come up with your own names?

      Pathetic

I didn’t realize the shitpost community also comes with its own Reddit bots. Nice! The assholery is appreciated. Thank you for throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Although still not as good as these, Texas does have some weirder names. Point Blank, TX and Cut and Shoot, TX are two that come to mind.

The colonists really missed an opportunity imo, the USA could have had such great place names as New Fingringhoe, but instead it seems like only the boring names got copied :(

You can go see the Parthenon (full scale) and a Pyramid (not accurate) in Tennessee

There are some random things around the U.S. that often get overlooked.

How are you not mentioning that you can buy guns at the pyramid?

          That’s a very important detail.

Are there any respectable places in Tennessee that you can’t buy both beer and guns? I mean hell, Walmart is supposed to be the low bar. If you can get a 12 pack, a shot gun and a few hundred shells and walk out without needing anything but an ID showing your 18, well this ain’t America

    Nothing beats, Fucking, Austria:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugging,_Upper_Austria

"Fugging (German: [ˈfʊkɪŋ] ⓘ), spelled Fucking until 2021, is an Austrian village (…)

Augustina Lindlbauer, the manager of an area guesthouse, said that the area had lakes, forests, and vistas worth visiting, but there was an “obsession with Fucking”, and she had to explain to a British tourist “that there were no Fucking postcards”.

I am equally impressed that the journey is over 1k miles, considering the entire island is about 600 miles top to bottom. An extra 400 miles of no straight roads.

I heard the phrase, “as the bird flies” recently in reference to the 600 miles type of measurement and thought that was neat
