Well it’s not justice it’s revenge.
And that’s unacceptable.
Is it though? Sure an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. But forgiveness is never going to stop lack of empathy. No those kinds of people are only this way because they never felt lost and feel empowered. Humbling them is the only cure. Nothing more humbling then feeling the humiliation and terror they inflicted. Forgiveness can happen afterwards because then they truly understand the weight of the evil they committed.
Because government sanctioned punishment (enacted or encouraged by them) should be, ideally, avoided. That’s why the death penalty is unacceptable, too.
