A regular spiderweb is pretty hard to see? I do this all the time…

If they are invisible what is to be afraid of now? Ain’t the only reason we’re afraid of them cause they look horrible?

I’m not sure I’ve ever felt primal fear so much as when I feel something crawling on me. Often seeing it lessens that fear bc I can deal with it. Not seeing it increases the fear.

Well, except for a few species where their venom is what’s more terrifying, that’s generally true. This also hopefully makes them more effective at capturing insects, which is the main reason we want them near us.

Well, enjoy the tickling sensation on your face when you’re in bed. You can’t see what it is so you should be fine.

You know “the average person eats 8 spiders per year in their sleep” urban legend? It’s sort of true, most people don’t eat any but there’s one guy named Rick in Columbus who eats thousands so the numbers are skewed.

Apparently that was a social experiment to see how many people would believe it.

Which is kinda fucked cause it messed me up when I was too young to understand that adults don’t always know what they’re talking about. For years, I would go to bed with the top sheet wrapped over my mouth so spiders couldn’t get in. For some asshole’s social experiment.

I heard that someone once said along the lines that the biggest fear is actually about things you expect to see and/or happen. That’s why horror games/films are so scary

How does satisfactory do it? I haven’t checked out that one’s Arachnophobia mode. A game I played replaced spiders and other “creepy” mobs with generic blobs

I was watching some video of some game (so specific, I know…) where the Arachnophobia mode replaced the mobs with GIANT pictures of a cat face that ended up being a bit terrifying in of itself
