As someone who grew up on Medicaid and free school lunch programs and shit and worked a string of shitty jobs to stay afloat, I thank my stars that I wasn’t some billionaire’s kid. They might even think that they’re happy, but you can see it in their eyes they ain’t.

Set up to be materially wealthy and spiritually impoverished. These people don’t look happy.

I don’t understand how it’s possible for “retarded” to be a slur but “bitch” be fine. Either way you’re turning immutable characteristics into an insult, so what’s the difference exactly? I guess there’s some contexts where it’s not as bad, like when you hammer your own hand and yell “son of a bitch!”. But as a sailor-mouth myself, directly calling someone a bitch, especially a woman, is vile to me. I don’t care how big of an asshole she is.

Can you explain to me why criticizing her behavior requires the use of a specifically gendered insult? Does her gender play into why it’s bad? Do you mean to imply that if a man did the same thing it would be ok? Is it extra wrong because of gender-specific expectations of behavior? Meanwhile “dumb bitch” is doubly loaded as a phrase, given that it’s a phrase that’s often dismissive of women in general, or implies that the two things are linked.

I would have said dumb bitch if it was a guy too. This didn’t even cross my mind

I doubt that would actually be true, but tbh I’m not sure if that would make it any better, because that just sounds like you’re attacking his masculinity.

Also, getting defensive about problematic language and denying that it’s problematic, rather than acknowledging it and trying to avoid it in the future is very, y’know, MAGA. We do not need to sink to their level.

Yea, just a reminder, folks, ‘asshole’ is available as a reliable and accurate enough term for shitheads like these two.
