I got an offer for a similar sized area, which was about €500.

It appears to be a safety measure, so it’s well spent.

    This is a good shitpost.

    • With cheap underpaid undocumented labor? Probably not much
    • Through guaranteed union contracts so that such laborers can actually build lives in the countries they work in? Probably a lot.

Is that “a lot” even a drop in the bucket of government expenditure? Not by a long shot.
Are we told to get angry about it by right-wing media? Oh you betcha

Nah it would have cost the city the same regardless, you’re just talking about how much the civils business pays its workers.

Most likely this would have been part of a larger project of installing cycle lanes in various places. But it still would have been expensive, civil contractors are notorious.

      Drop in what bucket?

The one we keep the deficit? The interest on existing debt are paid with new loans. This bucket has no bottom. Money is seizing to have its own value in the long run and the numbers are just a measurement of consumed energy.

Considering that this is hungary or some neighbouring country based on the signs, posts, road quality and nature and that 90% of the government money spent on infrastructure projects is embezzled, id say quite a lot.
