There was something I recommended someone I know to buy on Monday, but they decided to wait till black friday to buy it. When Black Friday rolled around, it had gone up in price by 200 dollars, and the lower spec version of that product had gone on a black friday sale for the old price of the higher end one
In Finland we just got a law that when there is a sale, you are required to show the lowest price of the item in the last 30 days. Immediately you could see the prices go up about 30 days before black Friday. Like here, lowest price across several sites for the Revo Q robot vacuum:
oh wow thats a crazy price increase. Man I wish we had a law like that here in the US
Yeah it was a nice law but 30 days is really short time. Should be like 6 months imo.
Yeah my partner was all excited about black Friday and reminding me. I just laughed at her, because the real sales aren’t commercialized and spread throughout the year.
I can put I ten times the effort and find only a fraction of genuine sale prices compared to any other day of the year.
I will crush her Black Friday spirit yet.
Aaaand it’s gone. (It’ll be on sale again next week to clear out the lagging inventory.)
to be fair, if you want something which you would buy for the normal price, it still makes sense to wait for Black Friday in the hope that it’s reduced. If it isn’t you haven’t lost out on anything and if it is reduced, you won a few bucks
Black Friday deals are also on products that have small defects.
You know that TV you send back because it had a couple of dead pixels?
Now it is sold on Black Friday for 20% off, what a deal!
Anyway, in Belgium and the Netherlands, we have an awesome site that keeps track of the prices of electronics for at least a year, also on multiple different sites. It honestly is the best way to look for good deals. [Site for those curious]
tweakers.net sounds like a social site for meth addicts lol.
