Greetings everybody!

At the moment Tellum continues to be largely AWOL since the instance change which leaves us 1 mod down from where we would like to be to have our bases covered. I have no doubt he’ll be back at some point but life doesn’t get to wait for us so as the title suggests: Mod applications are now open!

Requirements (which are fairly long-winded because I tend to go on~):

-Be a member of the community. If we don’t recognize your name or see any history of you being here in SQ, you need not apply. The Fediverse doesn’t need power mods and people already familiar with the community and our rules are ideal.

-Location/time: The most active times for the community seem to be afternoon and evenings (based on North American time zones) so ideally you should be capable of checking in on the community periodically during these times at least to make sure things are going smooth.

-Thick skin: People suck. 99% of people you will come across are kind, funny and normal, but humankind also makes it’s fair share of low-expectation unadulterated morons. As a mod you can and possibly will be the target of harassment, bullying, and attacks by users. Ensure you are capable of letting dumb comments and attacks roll off your back without letting it interfere with your duties. This does not mean you need to take shit, we do have rules and attacks on mods do count against our civility and harassment rules, but you’ll be expected to act ‘professionally’ so to speak. Someone calls you a useless fuckhole, that warrants a deleted/locked comment and a ban, not a pissing contest in comments where you escalate things.

-Content: Ensure you are ok with seeing potentially triggering and or straight up illegal content. Someone shows up and spams the community with content that is against the rules (or illegal), you’ll be responsible for deleting it (and depending what it is, reporting it to the instance admin or to myself [to report to them lol]).

-Keep in mind this is largely an ‘in case shit happens’ position at the moment. If you check the modlog for this community you’ll see how slow your job will be lmao. We’ve only had the odd problem or two across our whole history on both Lemmy and kbin, one of which was minor and one was a kbin problem (the spambots). You’ll be expected to do your ‘duties’ but just be aware those duties for now will be few and far between.

So all that being said: Anyone who wishes to apply, please do so in the comments below. Feel free to add any experience you have modding if you wish, or a brief write-up as to why you wanna mod the joint. Neon and I (and Tellum should he return) will read through em and decide on who is best!
