another reason brick and mortars are fucked. weird how ordering online and waiting 2 days is infinitely less annoying than driving to a store, finding the thing you went there for locked up, and having to fetch a wage slave to open the glass case for socks. after he’s done helping the 5 people in front of you

I actually love going to REI. Super helpful and cool place. Microcenter is ok, I only get 3D printer filament there and they also do price matching so if you find the same thing on amazon or somewhere cheaper, they’ll match the price.

It’s not that easy. In some areas, every retail store puts everyday stuff behind glass.

New Orleans had virtually every chain retail cvs/walgreens/target etc. with half the store behind glass. A lot of the items weren’t even what you would normally consider theft targets.

My half serious prediction is this is the next evolution in in-person shopping. One of everything will be on display, you pick it out, someone goes around back to fetch it for you. This has existed before at state run liquor stores and a retail store called Century

In the last few years they have had a history of locking up specifically products aimed at black people and not the white people equivalent. Most notably hair products.

They got in trouble for it and then after admitting they did it because of racism. They started locking up the whole store to save face.
