Yes, because all prison is government sanctioned punishment. However, extrajudicial punishment like prison rape is too far.
There are limits to my cruelty, and while I generally never want people in solitary, a prison guard who sexually assaulted 64 prison Inmates is a circumstance where I think it’s apropos.
He should not be put to death. Nor should he be in gen pop. It’s obvious he is remorseless. Likely to never rehabilitate. Keep him away from people. If there’s a shred of humanity in him, perhaps we’ll see him showcase that humanity, albeit unlikely due to how solitary works.
But maybe if that evidence shows itself, then move him from solitary into a more controlled, but largely isolated, environment. He must earn his place back in prison society. He should never be allowed to interact with the public again.
Solitary should be the very last resort. And for specifically this kind of case only, not all persons in prison or jail.
Very high ground and reasonable reponse my fellow human. A good example on justice being cold and blind.
I rather see the wicked learn empathy through suffering or go mad as a hatter. If there is no hell then they got what they dealt. It won’t remove what they did but at least it makes me feel better.
Sorry I’m confused wouldn’t solitary be considered government sanctioned?
