Hardcore Legend Mick Foley is no longer planning to return to the ring for one final match.

Earlier this year, the 58-year-old Foley revealed that he was considering coming out of retirement to have one final death match in celebration of his 60th birthday. Foley said he wanted to lose weight and was using the goal of having one more match as motivation.

But Foley suffered from dizziness last month and had to miss some personal appearances because of it. After initially thinking the symptoms were caused by driving too much and not sleeping enough, Foley posted a video on Monday revealing that – after consulting with doctors – it appears that he suffered a concussion without knowing it.

Foley said he’s calling off the idea of having another match. It’s a decision that Foley’s family “strongly” supports.

As some of you know, I had to miss a couple weekends of appearances because of dizziness and lightheadedness. After consulting a couple of doctors and also using my own experience with concussions – the symptoms, they seem to point to a concussion that I did not even know I received. I hadn’t done too much in the ring, but I had done a little bit. I had noticed that I was lightheaded after one of the workouts, but I thought it would go away.

So it just seems like the wisest move, and one that’s strongly supported by my family, is to call off that final match. If I can get concussed from something I’m not even aware of, then some of the things that I was thinking of doing and hoping of doing in a big match would not be smart. So with my family’s urging, and after careful thought, I’ve decided there will be no final match. Thanks a lot for tuning in, and I hope you have a nice day.

Foley had floated Matt Cardona and Jon Moxley’s names as possible opponents for the final match. It would not have taken place in WWE.

The last time that Foley wrestled was in the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.

Your health is far more important than our entertainment. I will just rewatch the hell in the cell with Undertaker.

You are and always be the most badass wrestler that has graced the square circle.

Agreed. I know Mick is going through the Aging Wrestler Special™ right now which is always tough, but he’s smart enough to listen to his family at least and not Ric Flair himself.

I’m glad he’s chosen to do the safe thing. He’s done so much for the industry, sacrificed so much so freely. He’s my #1 GOAT, but I don’t want him in a match ever again.

At most what Jake the Snake does. Maybe throwing a punch once a year when the ref isn’t looking.

Yeah let him get some odd moves in, maybe a barbed wire bat run in during an event when a ref isn’t looking, something to keep him in the industry but not taking bumps.

I’m sad he got another concussion, and I hope Mick Foley decides to stick to this no-more match thing, but, I hope somebody will let him have a role like the legends that interfere at Mania someday, have him hit the ring and do the Mandible Claw or a Double Arm DDT to a huge pop, I just want him to have that huge pop again.

It really sucks that it took a concussion to make him see reason, but I’m glad he changed his mind. I hope this doesn’t discourage him from continuing to lose weight. I want pro wrestling’s real life Santa Claus to be around for as long as possible.

Same. As a tubby fuck, seeing him drop 20 some odd lbs that quick was nice to see and honestly is a real testament to how bad he really wants to do a match, but we don’t need Mick being dragged around a ring semi-concious by someone trying to help him make a pin to save face during a ‘retirement’ match.
